It has been said many times that the British are the masters of the understatement. Your article on page two of September 5 endorses this.
I refer to the story about a ‘40-tonne’ rock that fell from the cliff at Golden Cap. According to Mr Bale, a Lyme Regis coastguard, if anyone was there ‘it would have hurt someone badly’.
