Thanks, our event was such a success May we thank all the organisations and individuals who worked so hard to make West Bay Day 2013 a success.
Despite the typically British weather a lot of people had a lot of fun and we raised about £1,000 for the RNLI and returned another £600 into the community through the groups who had stalls and collected for their own activities.
Ricky Groves opened the event and gave his time freely all day long – we still have some signed autograph cards available.
This event is growing annually in status and popularity, and this is mainly due to the the great bands we had throughout the day.
Many people have commented on the wonderful community spirit generated around the Bay, which I am sure can only be of benefit to the entire area. We had arranged overflow parking and West Dorset District Council provided marshalls in the main car-park so that we had no traffic problems.
Our surprise spectacular was the lighting of the East Cliff from the beach, sponsored by Townsends and the Chesil Lighting Team and pictures of this stunning moment are available from Luke Woods on Bridport market. We are planning an even more spectacular ‘spectacular’ for next year.
Lastly may we thank all the people who came down to the bay despite the weather and entered into the spirit of the occasion with enthusiasm, even dancing in the rain. GILLIAN SUMMERS chairman West Dorset District Council JAMES RADCLIFFE harbourmaster West Bay
