Having visited West Bay for many years, this year has been my first experience of the West Bay ‘enhancement’ scheme.
Not only does the pinch point cause problems with its double issue of the car park exit and the give-way instruction to leaving traffic, there is arriving traffic from the Crown roundabout passing George Street on the right and then confronted with the road continuing round a blind left-hand corner towards two car parks and onwards to Burton Bradstock.
In the busy holiday season most incoming traffic will probably want to turn right at the corner for the harbour and seafront, Parkdean Holiday Centre and residences on West Cliff.
But the road into West Bay has right of way when approaching from Burton Bradstock around the blind right-hand bend.
I wish success to the West Bay Community Forum, who, following the Broadchurch effect, I hope will not allow West Bay to become ‘urbanised’.
