ASHLEY Caddy is hopeful his side will be at full strength for this Saturday’s clash at high-flying Kentisbeare in the Devon League E Division.

The Uplyme & Lyme Regis skipper was left frustrated by the weather at the weekend but is backing his men to come back from the enforced lay-off refreshed and raring for action.

Caddy told the Lyme Regis News: “The fact last Saturday’s game against Tiverton & Bickleigh was postponed was really disappointing but at the end of the day there is nothing you can do about the weather.

“The previous week we had a good winning-draw against Babbacombe and all we can do now is look to build on that at Kentisbeare on Saturday, which will be another tough game for us.”

Kentisbeare currently sit fourth in the table but Caddy is not fazed by that and is backing his mid-table side to give the high-fliers a huge test.

He added: “We haven’t played them for a few years now so I don’t know much about them really other than that they are clearly in good form and riding high in the table.

“As yet I haven’t been made aware of any unavailabilities and a few of the university lads are back as well, so we should have a full-strength squad to choose from this week and I am optimistic we can put on a good display.”

Lyme failed to deliver at second-placed Upottery on June 4 when they were bowled all out for just 152 in a six-wicket defeat – an occurrence Caddy does not want to see repeated.

He said: “Against Babbacombe, we put a score (233-6) on the board but could not bowl them out whereas at Upottery we did not score enough and were duly beaten.

“It is about performing in all aspects of the game at the same time and hopefully we can do that this weekend and also get that bit of luck, which you need to be successful.

“If that happens then we will stand every chance of coming away from Kentisbeare with a positive result.”
