MEMBERS of Chard & District Swimming Club jetted off to Barcelona for some Spanish sun and a week’s swim camp.
After a hectic weekend competing in the national final of the Arena League in Sheffield, there was no time to relax as a dozen swimmers boarded a plane bound for Catalonia.
Chard’s members joined Street Swimming Club for this latest venture, alongside their joint head coach, former 50m breaststroke world champion Zoe Baker, and many parent helpers.
The 10-lane 50m outdoor pool was within a few minutes of the hotel and the beach, while a hard week’s training was combined with sightseeing.
A couple of two-hour sessions were held daily as well as land training and a fun biathlon. The swimmers also enjoyed team games such as beach rounders, football, quizzes and a talent show.
It also provided the swimmers from the two clubs with an opportunity to get to know each other better and also make new friends.
The swimmers would like to thank all the parents who gave their time to organise such a successful and enjoyable trip, particularly Bev Lavallin, Keith Hallam and Tash and Anoushka Gould.
Hannah Pullinger, Madeline Ryder, Tessa Down, Abi Dare, Jodie Hake, Jess Mathieson, Lauren Harrison, Lauren van den Barselaar, Elisha Hawkins, Luke van den Barselaar, Jake Hallam and Joe Spurway all took part in the camp.
