UPLYME & Lyme Regis SECONDS 158-8 (4pts) lost to FENITON SECONDS 159-2 (19pts) by eight wickets
UPLYME & Lyme Regis Seconds were sent spinning to their second successive defeat in Devon League D Division East Two.
Having been inserted against Feniton, openers Eddie Clarke (25) and Henry Perry (62) gave the home side a solid platform by putting on 70 for the first wicket.
Dave Norman (16) and Perry – who notched a career-best score – advanced the total and the stage was set for the remaining batsmen to accelerate the run-rate.
However, Feniton’s bowlers strangled the proceedings and Uplyme were able to add only a further 44 runs in the remaining overs to finish on 158-8.
Chasing a total of 159, Feniton had to tread carefully against the accurate bowling of Rodney Holmes (0-22) and Rodney Rowe (1-20), who rolled back the years.
But there was no real penetration in the attack and the visitors comfortably reeled in their target with eight wickets to spare.
