Lyme Regis are still looking for their first win in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League.
Their latest setback was a 3-0 defeat at Winkleigh although, in fairness to The Seasiders, four of the five league games they have played to date have been against the section’s leading sides.
Lyme made a poor start at Winkleigh and were two set-piece goals behind after fifteen minutes, the first following a corner and the second from a long throw-in.
The visitors did create chances, however, with both Sam Merigaux and Mike Calverley causing problems for the home defence.
After the break, Lyme looked to use the pace in behind for Adzy Whitehouse and Mika Mamanta came on in midfield to provide greater impetus.
With a two-goal advantage Winkleigh tried to hold on to possession whenever possible and a third goal on the break consolidated the win.
Lyme’s Man of the Match Award went to full back Ben Bowditch.
“We still need to compete for first and second balls but we were playing against a hard physical side,” Lyme manager Stefan Taylor told the News.
“We need to try and play out from the back and not always go so long. These are things to work on in training and try to improve,” he added.
The Seasiders are without a scheduled fixture this Saturday.
