Lyme Regis played the return fixture against top of the table Clyst Valley in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League but went down 3-0 this time.
Both goalkeepers were in action early on before Clyst went ahead when the Lyme defence switched off after a refereeing decision was inexplicably reversed.
After conceding a second goal, Lyme pressed and almost got back in the game when a shot from Adzy Whitehouse beat the goalkeeper and ran along the goal-line after coming back off the post.
Lyme’s play picked up after a number of substitutions were made in the second half but, despite having adequate cover at the back, they could not prevent the home side putting the game to bed with a third goal near the end.
This Saturday (September 21) Lyme face another difficult away day with a trip to Winkleigh.
