Lyme Regis 2

Sidmouth Town Reserves 6

The Seasiders remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the Devon and Exeter Football League after suffering their second defeat in as many games.

Although taking an early lead, Lyme found themselves under heavy pressure during the first half and went in 3-1 down at the break in this Premier Division game on Saturday, August 31.

Adzy Whitehouse got the early goal from a long throw in by Sam Waddon but then the visitors began to dominate.

The visitors profited from a long ball over the top that the Seasiders' defence failed to deal with.

In the second half Lyme never seemed to get going and conceded further goals before Whitehouse added a late consolation.

Waddon performed well at full back and Lyme also included Cody Bowditch and Mike Calverley who came off the bench.

Frank Long hit a hat-trick for Sidmouth and there were also goals from Louis Adey (2) and Scott Hughes.

Speaking to The News after the game, Lyme manager Stefan Taylor, said: “We need a big performance from the boys this week as last Saturday was unacceptable.”

Next up for Lyme is the visit of Clyst Valley, and although Ty Allen and David Bridges are still out, Mika Mamanta and Josh Rawlins may return to the squad.

The Seasiders and Taylor will be hoping they can get their first points of the season when Clyst come to Davy Fort on Saturday.

This weekend's opposition have so far accumulated three points from their first two games and sit in seventh place.

An opening day 3-1 win over Feniton was followed up with a 2-0 defeat to Wellington reserves.

Owen Gregory leads the goal scoring charts for Clyst having netted twice in the win over Feniton.

The weekend's game is the first of back-to-back games with Clyst with the return match to be played on Saturday, September 14 at Winslade Park Avenue

Kick off at Davy Fort is at 3pm on Saturday, September, 7.
