Lyme Regis Bowls Championship side had a mixed bag of results last week alongside two successful club competitions

Their first game of the week saw them defeat Branksome Park 61-42 at home thanks to Barry Driscoll, Tim Munro, Allan Weech and Carl Stephens wining their rink 16-14 along with Rom Hunt, Alan Nabarro, Steve Pomeroy and Paul Pomeroy winning 27-10.

Mick Heneghan, Simon Dowling, Paul Moffitt and Barry Rattenbury drew 18-18.

This was followed up by an away 59-28 defeat to Branksome Park A

Barry Driscoll, Trevor Allman, Tim Munro, Carl Stephens lost 6-26, Rom Hunt, Alan Nabarro, Richard Cridge and Allan Weech lost 12-19, whilst Mick Heneghan, Simon Dowling, Paul Moffitt, Barry Rattenbury lost 10-14.

In the men's Division Two Lyme beat Sherborne 61-47 thanks to Peter Fortnam, John Sherring, Gerry Mangeoles and John Maslen winning 17-21 and Trevor Sherring, Dave Rolfe, Keith Barnes and Richard Cridge winning 27-8.

Trevor Allman, David Flett, Chris Haseman and Roger Gale lost their rink in a closely fought 17-18 game.

In the Robert Sumelka Cup, 16 ladies with eight pairs playing in two sections.

The draw was carried out with two hats - one for the more experienced bowlers and the others in the second hat . 

Each pair played two random drawn games of 10 ends each playing with two woods.

Kay Honey and Judith Moffitt won section one winning both their games.

The winners of section two with 2pts , a +2 shot difference and winning 11 ends (each pair won one game) was Jane Moon and Mary Haseman.

The final was played over 12 ends with Jane Moon and Mary Haseman winning the Robert Sumelka Cup.

The Henry Broome day at the club, a competition open to all bowlers who have not won a singles competition.

Kay Honey v Richard Cridge met in the semi final where despite Richard’s experience, Kay played superbly to reach the final.

Another two new bowlers in Jeff Hall and Trevor Sherring produced another high quality game with Trevor just coming out on top.

Trevor and Kay will meet in the final on Finals Day.
