Lyme Regis Town FC kick off their season in the Premier Division of the Devon and Exeter League with a visit to Lapford on Saturday (August 24)
Taking charge of the first team this season is Stefan Taylor who has stepped up from managing some of the club’s other sides.
He will be assisted by Alex Staker while Mark Bailey and Darren Wiscombe will manage the reserve side.
Training sessions and pre-season games have gone well and steps have been taken to improve the drainage at the club’s Davey Fort ground before the arrival of wet weather.
The new Lyme boss is looking forward to the new season and can't wait to get the real action underway this weekend.
Speaking to the News, he said: “We’re really looking forward to the start of the season. The squad has a good mix of established players, new signings and of course there are the younger ones coming through as well.”
Some of last season’s squad remain but there has also been an influx of new players during the close season.
Among these are midfielder Sammy Walker from Beer Albion, striker Adam Whitehouse from Seaton and defender Sam Waddon from Millwey Rise who can play at full back or in the centre of defence.
Other players in the squad will include goalkeeper Will Meech, Josh Daines, Kingsley Wellman, Ty Allen and Craig Every.
The reserves now play in Division Four and include a number of young players who have graduated through the youth ranks.
Thirteen clubs will contest the honours in the Premier Division this season while the reserves will face local derbies against Colyton and Uplyme.
