LYME Regis Golf Club celebrated their Captain’s Day with one member scoring a hole-in-one to mark the occasion.

That honour fell to Judith Williams, whose ace came on the third hole.

Lyme skippers Bob Shepherd and Marina Cave hosted the day, with the winning team proving to be Glenn Harding, Dan Collins, Dan O’Connor and Jason Contreras.

Heavy rain reported in the surrounding areas failed to reach us and the round was completed in a little over four hours.

Members finished off the day with an excellent barbecue accompanied by Charlie Barber, daughter Clare and friend Cameron with their a cappella singing.

Meanwhile, Lyme hosted their last Ladies Open of 2024 in warm conditions.

The first-placed team were from Parkstone Golf Club with a score of 78 points.

The day was organised by Hanna Jacobsen with the help and support of the ladies’ committee and many other lady members.

Some 21 teams of three from local clubs entered the Bowmaker and as well as the fine weather they enjoyed playing on a fabulous course in perfect condition.

There were many exceptional comments about the course, the post-match food, as well as the now infamous Halfway House, serving a delicious offering of homemade cakes and savouries.

The raffle, with proceeds going to the captain’s charity, had many prizes including gin, a glass bowl of fresh fruit, wines, chocolates and tote bags made by one of the lady members.

Many of the teams stayed on for the presentation of the four main prizes and three nearest the pin prizes.

The visiting teams reported that they were very happy with the day and they were looking forward to returning next year.
