EXMOUTH II 236-8 (20pts) beat UPLYME & LYME REGIS 185 (8pts) by 51 runs.
UPLYME & Lyme Regis fell short in a large run chase as Exmouth Seconds claimed a 51-run victory in Devon League C Division East.
Set 237 to win at Exmouth, Uplyme needed a number of batters to make major contributions.
But with Joe Elsworth (59) and Steve Batey (37) the only ones to become really established and wickets going cheaply, especially late in the innings, the visitors finally fell 51 runs short.
The mainstay of the home side’s total was Sam Goodier, who came in at number six and was undefeated on 81 when the innings closed.

Also among the runs were Josh Austin (37) and Andrew Murray (23) and Uplyme’s cause was not helped with the number of extras (38) being Exmouth’s second-highest scorer.
Preston Hilless finished with the best figures of the visiting bowlers with his 3-38 in a nine-over stint.
Elsworth accumulated steadily but lacked partners who could sustain the tempo for long although Hilless (23), Sam Farrow (17) and Steve Batey (37) all made some progress.
When they departed however the tail-end flagged with the last four wickets falling for only 25 runs.
Exmouth’s Assah Ullah took 3-45 in his spell and Alvin Pollard was economical, picking up 2-15.
Uplyme welcome Exeter Seconds to the King George V Playing Fields on Saturday (1pm).
