LYME Regis Bowls Club presented a cheque to a Dorset childrens’ charity after a catalogue of summer fundraising for the good cause.
In total, £575 was raised for Butterflies, a Dorset charity who assist disabled children and young people who have a DT postcode with equipment that is not funded by the statutory agencies and/or by grants.
Trevor and Ann Allman had chosen Butterflies as their charity for the 2023 summer season. Catherine and Suzanne, from Butterflies, came down to the bowls club where they were presented with the cheque, funds which will be put to good use and provide equipment for a disabled child or young person.
Back on the green, the last week of the outdoor season consisted of two friendly matches against teams from Devon and Somerset and one club social competition – the President versus Captain team competition.

In the final club competition of the summer, some five rinks were used consisting of two matches of four woods and three of triples.
The fours played to 18 ends and the triples to 21 ends, with substitutes allowed at any point in the matches, and at least 35 members took part.
Final scores were not important, but the captain's teams eked out a narrow total victory.
The highest scoring team for each side was awarded the traditional and highly sought-after president's pens.
The weather was kind and everyone retired to the clubhouse afterwards for refreshments, gifts of appreciation from the president and a raffle, while waiting for the arrival of the fish and chips van.
In friendly action, Lyme suffered an agonising 81-80 loss at Topsham.
Jan Parsons, Trevor Sherring, Nicky Driscoll and Allan Weech got off to a grand start, winning 19-12, but Crispin Boyle, Avril Sherring, John Sherring and Pam Weech lost 29-10.
Jane Moon, Peter Walker, Pauline Knight and Barry Rattenbury were 19-11 victors, while Brian Parsons, Mick Heneghan, Jim Moseley and Roger Gale claimed a handsome 21-7 win.
However, Jasmine Bishop, Barry Driscoll, Keith Barnes and Sue Rowe were defeated 22-11.
Lyme then went down to defeat at South Petherton, winning and losing two rinks apiece.
Lyme’s green has now been closed for the season.
