LYME REGIS 2
ALPHINGTON 6
LYME Regis were beaten heavily 6-2 by Alphington despite an improved display in the Devon & Exeter League Premier Division.
Reigning champions Alphington charged into a 2-0 lead thanks to Morgan Cullen’s brace, but a sweet strike from Josh Rawlins halved the deficit for Lyme.
That was until Rio Potter netted thanks to more generous defending, establishing a 3-1 lead at the break.
Lyme fought hard, with Ben Turner impressive in midfield, during the second half but Cullen was able to complete his hat-trick before Tre Davey bagged a brace.

Former manager Rob Fellingham converted a consolation penalty for Lyme but ultimately the Seasiders had shipped six goals in a second-straight game.
While new boss Kevin Turner was encouraged by green shoots of improvement, he also recognised Alphington’s power.
He said: “I was very encouraged by the effort they put in. They’re a good side and I can’t see anyone beating them.
“They’ve got some really good youngsters, quick on the attack.
“There were three outstanding performances from Michael Knight, Ben and Josh Daines who caused them all kinds of problems.
“I couldn’t really ask for much more, we just got beaten by the better team. What was a little disappointing was the goals we conceded. I thought they were soft, we gave away two penalties.”
Lyme travel to Lapford on Saturday (3pm).
