KENTISBEARE 3

LYME REGIS 0

LYME Regis continued their topsy-turvy Devon & Exeter League Premier Division season with a 3-0 reverse at Kentisbeare.

Lyme were made to rue defensive mistakes as Kentisbeare went 2-0 up while Brad Rowe was sin-binned for dissent, before the hosts finished the job in the second half.

Jack Bishop, Bradley Riggs and Lee Riggs all got on the scoresheet but Lyme did have the first chance as, before his sin-bin, Rowe cut inside from the wing and lashed against the side-netting.

However, two scrappy goals followed Rowe’s temporary exit as Lyme failed to clear, leading to 1-0, Lyme keeper Will Meech was then involved in a mix-up which allowed Kentisbeare to lob home.

Lyme were still in the game but Kentisbeare netted another scrappy goal, bobbling past Meech, to seal the victory.

Speaking post-match, interim Lyme boss Rob Fellingham said: “It was ten minutes where discipline was lost that cost us the match.

“Even with ten men, we still had the same amount of men in defensive areas. We just needed to sit tight and hold it but a couple of mistakes cost us pretty dearly.”

Lyme now have the rare chance of exacting revenge against Kentisbeare one week later at Davey Fort on Saturday (3pm).

“It’s really odd scheduling from the league," Fellingham added. "Even though we had that defeat last week, with the players we have coming back I’d really back us to put it right.

“We played Kentisbeare earlier in the season, albeit with a different side, and beat them 5-0. We know full well we’re capable of it.

“We tend to play our pitch really well, so I’d back us to put this right.”

Gary Knight and Jack Lamb-Wilson remain out but Callum Garrett, Ethan Matthews, Michael Knight and Cam Fowler are all expected to return to strengthen the Seasiders.

Lyme: Meech, A Rowe, R Fowler (Laing 70), Beer, Rawlins, Bailey (Blackmore 70), Turner, Fellingham, Daines (Durrant 60), B Rowe, Batey.
