SANDFORD 0
LYME REGIS 2
LYME Regis shook off the cobwebs from a two-week break by beating Sandford 2-0 away in their Devon & Exeter League Premier Division clash.
Lyme were comfortable throughout and should have enjoyed a bigger margin of victory.
Gary Knight was denied from close range by a superb tip-over save from the Sandford keeper and Josh Daines opted to square rather than shoot after a pinpoint cross from Ethan Matthews.
However, Daines made amends with a brilliant first-time finish on the half-volley from keeper Will Meech’s long ball over the top, giving the Seasiders a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, Lyme’s only scare was a Sandford free-kick that whizzed over Meech’s bar.
Later, Lyme interim player-boss Rob Fellingham hit the post with a free-kick.
Lyme managed to go 2-0 up when another Fellingham free-kick was this time parried into the path of the anticipating Alex Rowe, who finished from six yards for 2-0.
Steve Batey missed a late header from six yards but Lyme were never troubled and booked their tenth win of the league season.
Fellingham said: “It was really solid all-round, a good performance. I think the scoreline flattered Sandford a little.
“We could’ve had a couple more but, on the whole, a really pleasing day.”
Lyme host Crediton Seconds on Saturday (3pm).
