UPLYME & LYME REGIS 173 (8pts) lost to EXMOUTH II 224-8 (20pts) by 51 runs
UPLYME & Lyme Regis sustained a 51-run home defeat to Exmouth Seconds as their hopes of more silverware were extinguished.
Uplyme ended up finishing 16 points adrift of league winners Sandford Seconds, while the defeat also means Alphington & Countess Wear leapfrogged them in to second place.
Claiming third place in the division after successive promotions to C Division East can still be viewed as a huge success for Uplyme, who topped the table for much of the second half of the season.
Exmouth won the toss and batted first, amassing 224-8 after Richard Baggs (62) and Mike Collinge (50) hit half-centuries.

Andrew Harrison followed on from his astonishing 9-22 last week by taking 3-38 as the pick of the hosts’ bowlers.
In reply, Uplyme were well placed at 98-2 as Anand Abhishek (63) closed in on 1,000 runs for the season.
However, the overseas star was caught off Ed Maynard (1-33) and Uplyme were soon dismissed with Josh Austin claiming 4-13.
Sam Farrow (36) and Tyler Wellman (23) plus Martin Langford (16no) battled away but Exmouth had little trouble in closing out victory.
