UPLYME & LYME REGIS 366-4 (17pts) beat SANDFORD II 274-4 (7pts) by 92 runs
UPLYME & LYME Regis delivered a record batting display to score 366-4, crushing leaders Sandford Seconds by 92 runs and assuming control of Devon League C Division East.
In the highest-ever total compiled at King George V Playing Fields, numerous Uplyme players were heavily in the runs but none more so than overseas star Anand Abhishek, who scored a superlative 132.
The gigantic score of 366 from 45 overs – more than eight runs per over – came after Sandford had won the toss and elected to field.
Their decision quickly backfired as Abhishek, promoted to open the batting, began to wreak havoc.

He had already scored the majority of Uplyme’s opening stand by the time Mark Batey (12) fell to James Theedom (1-76) with the score on 48-1.
Joe Elsworth then crashed a quick 67 before Abhishek constructed a scorching stand of 186 for the third wicket with Tyler Wellman.
While Abhishek lifted his bat for Uplyme’s first century this season, Wellman (95no) was cruelly denied a rapid ton of his own late on as the hosts posted 366-4, helped by a brisk 21 from captain Sam Farrow.
Sandford’s reply began well as Jonathan James scored 50 but he, along with opening batter Chris Blake (11), were knocked over by Jack Lamb-Wilson (2-18).
Skipper and BBC freelance sports reporter Harry Everett rebuilt along with Joe Hopkins (22) and Robert Stoyle (28) but the required run rate was simply too much for the visitors.
Everett did manage to score a defiant unbeaten 123 for his first Devon League century, but Sandford ended 92 runs short of their mammoth target.
Next up for Uplyme, who now lead Sandford by six points, is a home clash with Sidmouth Seconds (1pm).
