LYME Regis Gig Club competed in the Swanage SuperVets Championships and secured a tremendous podium with their Men’s A team finishing second.
Out of a field of 22 competing gigs, Lyme's Men's B team came 13th behind winners Caradon Rowing Club.
The Swanage leg of the season is an important event in the annual race circuit, bringing the racing season to a close.
Rowers must be over 50 years old to cut the mustard and Lyme Regis Gig Club has a great track record, particularly for their men's squad.
In the last Cornish Pilot Gig World Championships held in the Isles of Scilly in 2019, the Lyme Men’s A came second.
This was doubly important result as it has enabled Lyme to take two gigs to next year's Championships, rather than one, which is the case for most clubs who did less well.
In the fiercely contested women's races, which saw 19 gigs competing, Lyme Ladies B came 17th behind the A team in ninth.
Lyme Regis will shift their focus over the coming winter months and out to March next year, to preparing for what the club hope is going to be an amazingly exciting and successful 2022.
