LYME REGIS 7 WEST & MIDDLE CHINNOCK 1
LYME Regis geared up for Saturday’s big home league clash with Perry Street (2.30pm) by thumping West & Middle Chinnock at Davey Fort in the Coronation Cup.
Seven different players scored for Tim Edwards’ side as they saw off a team that has won both its fixtures in the Perry Street League Premier Division.
Joe Bond started the rout inside five minutes but the visitors came back into the match and found an equaliser.
A close-range finish from Aaron Cleal saw the Seasiders regain the lead before the interval and two goals in the first five minutes of the second half killed the game off.
Kieron White and Mark Bailey found the target as did Ben Whittington on the hour before Chinnock were reduced to 10 men.
Substitutes Jack Durrant and Julien Simier completed the victory, which will no doubt give Lyme a boost heading into this weekend.
“We’ve got a tough game coming up against Perry Street but hopefully this will give everyone a bit of confidence,” said Edwards.
“Chinnock are newly-promoted to the Premier Division and have won both their games, so I didn’t expect us to win so comfortably.
“It was fairly even in the first half but once we scored twice early in the second their confidence went.
“And it’s not often you get seven and have seven different scorers.”
Lyme: Higgs, Clifton, White, Matthews, Rattenbury, Whittington (Simier 70), Bailey, Jones (Edwards 80), Cleal (Durrant 65), Gostling, Bond
