THE Queen Bees finally won their first game this season under the management team of Tom Parkes and Chris Donovan.
After a season of hard work and persistence on the part of the players and the coaches, the ladies came together to beat Dorchester United 7-2. With Miranda Coleberd unavailable, Megan Hill took on the captaincy the day before her 22nd birthday and helped inspire her side to an encouraging start.
Gina Gape opened the scoring for the Bees from the edge of the box before fine play from full-back Shell Carvell and winger Toni Aplin helped create three more goals to extend the advantage to four with Ellie Crabb claiming a first-half hat-trick.
It was only a matter of time before the net was bulging again and Stacie Ellard helped provide the clinical finish with her first for the club just after half-time before another went in to stretch the lead to six.
Shannon Hill then hit a post and Megan Hill struck a shot over the bar as the Bees continued to pour forward full of conifdence. But full credit must also be given to their opponents who hit back with two consolations in the closing stages.
Crabb then completed the scoring with her fourth to wrap up a superb all-round performance from the Bees, who also saw keeper Emma Hill make several fine saves.
The Bees are now hoping to continue in the same vein and anyone wishing to get involved or join the team for the 2011/12 campaign can do do by contacting Donovan on 07980334387, Parkes on 07745623467 or Coleberd on 07540338977.
