SEVENTY-SIX players took part in the men’s monthly medal, which incorporated the county qualifiers on a perfect morning for golf.
Not surprisingly there were some very good scores and some very close ones with the top three places in all three divisions, bar one, all having to be decided on countback.
The bar one was an excellent 63 scored by Richard Parry in Division Two.
That put him three shots ahead of his nearest rival, Mike Barter (67), who also happens to be in the same division.
Division One winner was Ed Cary with 68 and Dave Lang-ridge took Division Three with 70.

Division One: 1 (after countback) Ed Cary 74-6-68, 2 (acb) Kevin Jones 76-8-68, 3 (acb) Graham Hunt 74-6-68.
Division Two: 1 Richard Parry 80-17-63, 2 (acb) Mike Barter 84-17-67, 3 (acb) Roger Galpin 82-15-67.
Division Three: 1 (acb) Dave Langridge 92-22-70, 2 (acb) Les Herbert 91-21-70, 3. (acb) Fred Gibbs 93-22-71.

Parry & Barter had their handicap cut by two strokes, Cary, Hunt, Galpin and Langridge, by one. o o o Veterans’ Section THURSDAY’S competition was a self-entry, single-division stableford and 51 members took the field.
There were a number of scores in the high 30s with winner Richard Fox bagging 42 points, to just pip runner-up John Fevin (41).
That earned Fox a two-shot handicap reduction and Fevin was cut by one.

Ladies’ Section
ON a very blustery day, a good turnout of 43 members played a stableford competition for the President Shield, writes Lyn Hargrave In the tricky conditions, the balls seemed to be plucked out of their trajectory and dumped ignominiously in the rough, and on the greens putting became a lottery, despite the problems some good scores were carded.
