Bridport Ladies won the county final of the National Top Club competition beating Poole Park 3-1.
They will now go on to face the winners of the Warwickshire county competiton. Alison Tibble, Margaret Clapp and Sue Hosking have also won through to the national finals of the triples at Leamington Spa.
Bridport Men’s A and B teams had a very rewarding evening in the South Dorset League.
The A team broughgt nine points home from Portland Victoria.
Chris Thorne’s rink were behind by nine shots after 14 ends but then strung together six successive scores to go into the final end one ahead but their opponents scored a single shot to tie at 19-19. Bill Payne’s foursome won 21-16 and Brian Rumble's quartet triumphed 18-14 to give Bridport a 58-49 overall victory.
Division Two leaders Bridport B enhanced their position with success over Dorchester B 88-29.
Alan Cowdrey’s rink allowed their opponents only four scoring ends to run out 38-4 victors and Clive Langdon’s quartet were never in trouble finishing 26-12 ahead.
Clifford Harp’s rink completed the coup, winning 24-13. Bridport C did not have a happy evening at Well-worthy, losing 81-48 but Bob Seadon’s four salvaged two points with a 23-17 success.
