GARY McAuley will join up again with Bridport at the end of this month in a bid to become part of Trevor Senior’s plans for the forthcoming season.
The 32-year-old is keen to re-sign for the Bees after spending last season with Willand Rovers where he held the role of player/ assistant-manager.
Senior, who wanted McAuley to become his number two when he first took over at St Mary’s Field two years ago, said: “Gary has had a couple of spells here and wants to come back training with us.
“He played over 30 games for Willand last year and was their assistant-manager but he now just wants to concentrate on playing.
“He has a lot of experience but just like with everyone else I have promised him nothing.
“All we have agreed is that if it looks like he is going to figure for us by the end of pre-season he will stay, if not he will go elsewhere.
“I am also hoping Matt Moors will come back for pre-season as well.
“He has had two or three major injuries recently and they have knocked his confidence a bit but hopefully that is something that can be overcome and we can get him back playing at his best.”
Ex-Weymouth striker Sam Charles has also intimated he wants to return to the Bees, following a successful loan spell at the club in the second half of last season.
Senior added: “Sam said at the end of the campaign he was looking to return to us and having spoken to him since then it appears nothing has changed and he definitely wants to come down.
“Against Merthyr Town on the final day of the season, he really showed what he is capable of in the space of 10 seconds by scoring a top-quality goal and although there are parts of his game he needs to work on, I am confident he would score 20 goals a season for us.”
The Bees will return for pre-season training on June 28 and any players interested in going along can contact Trevor Senior on 07771903795.
