TREVOR Senior has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant hot-seat at Weymouth.

The Bob Lucas Stadium outfit are on the hunt for a new manager following last week’s departure of Martyn Rogers.

Forty-eight-year-old Senior was appointed joint-caretaker of the Terras back in September 1994, alongside Willie Gibson, before taking the role on a permanent basis the following January.

However, Bridport’s boss, who was sacked from the Radipole Lane post just three months later, is keen to stay at St Mary’s Field after guiding the Bees to promotion last term.

He told the Bridport News: “I’m quite happy where I am at the moment. After getting promotion last season I feel as though we’ve got some unfinished business.”

And Senior is meticulously planning next season’s return to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, following discussions over the proposed playing budget.

The Bees’ chief added: “We had a committee meeting on Monday night where the proposed budget was discussed.

“It won’t be mega money but with stepping up a league we came to the conclusion that we need to get out there and get more sponsorship.

“It’s difficult in the current climate but that’s what we have got to do.

“Our budget is geared around our sponsorship draw for the shirts. £120 a go is not too bad and we are aiming to get 100 entries.

“If we can reach that target it will give us a bit of money to work with in terms of paying travel expenses.

“We are not in a position to offer players big money or contracts, the lads that are here play because they enjoy playing for Bridport.

“So far no one from the squad has said they are not going to stay. They are all keen and are looking forward to the new challenge.

“I have spoken to a few players that will possibly come but it’s very early days. My first aim is always to try and keep the players I have already got.”

Bridport have secured four pre-season friendlies thus far, with more expected to be announced.

They host Bournemouth Poppies (July 16), Chickerell United (July 30) and Exeter City Youth (August 2), as well as travelling to Westland Sports (July 23).

The date with the Chickens will act as a double header with both clubs’ reserve sides also doing battle.
