LOOKING out over the course we all held our breath as the rain clouds gathered over Lyme and moved towards us.
Happily, the clouds moved up the Marshwood Vale and left us dry.
The combined competition of the Bush Plate, monthly medal and stableford was played in a sneaky little wind, which made putting a bit tricky.
Marilyn Wilson’s nett 73 earned her the plate ahead of runner-up Ruth Donovan (74), who also claimed Division B of the medal.
Julie Oliver (nett 73) topped Division A of the medal, with Margaret Thompson’s nett 86 winning her Division C.
In the stableford and Andrews Cup, Linda Knapp took top honours after she carded 32 points, four shots better than runner-up Jenny Conway.
To round off the week, the ladies held their Saturday Open, a fourball better-ball competition that was played in dry but breezy conditions.
It was very well attended and the winners were the duo from Ashley Wood, Claire Byrd and Caroline Payne, who nudged Sarah Fitzgerald-Zimmer and Donovan into second place on countback.

A SMALLISH field of 50 entered the men’s tree clubs and a putter stableford.
Conditions were extremely testing but the weather remained dry and enabled Mike Vincent to card 40 points – why does he need the other 10 clubs?
Graham Blunden carded 33 points to top Division One, while Kevin Jones (30) and Ken Stead (29) finished second and third respectively.
Vincent’s score was eight points better than Division Two runner-up Andy Harrison, whose was one better than third-placed Richard Fox.
In Division Three, David Faithfull notched 35 points to relegate Andy Webb (32) into second place.
Meanwhile, Stead’s nett 67 clinched him the midweek medal ahead of Blunden (72) and Stephen Pielesz (73).
And in the three-man bowmaker, Fox, B Savery and R Parry amassed 73 points to take first prize, one point better than J Griffin, L Turner and D Howatt.
