Golfers from Bridport came from behind to beat a Somerset prep school which specialises in the game.

For the past 26 years, Bridport Golf Club have tee'd off against Millfield School on a home and away basis.

The 4 ball matches are all played off scratch with Millfield always putting out a very strong team of boys and girls whose handicaps are in single figures.

Pupils at the school range from new players to internationals representing their countries at their respective age groups and its golf programme is considered one of the best in the world.

The Bridport golfers were trailing by 2.5 points to 1.5 points after the home fixture at the course off Burton Road.

However, in the return match at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, the west Dorset golfers galvanised themselves to win 3-1 - meaning they win overall 4.5 to 3.5.

Bridport captain John White was presented the trophy at the end of the day to receive the special 25th anniversary trophy from the Millfield School team
