Bridport Ladies continued their brilliant start to the Somerset County Women's League season after a 4-3 win over Ilminster Ladies Reserves on Sunday.
The top-of-the-table clash saw Ilminster drop their first points of the season as the Bees pulled three points clear of their rivals.
The game was almost called off before it started as the weather threatened a postponement.
St Mary's was unplayable, but Freshwater Beach Holiday Park stepped in and provided their pitch for the game.
Bees top goal scorer Aleeshea Rowland opened the scoring after latching on to a loose ball from a poor clearance in the seventh minute.
Ilminster wasted no time though and five minutes later the visitors were level.
In what was a dramatic opening fifteen minutes, Rowland then put the Bees back in front after another failed clearance from Ilminster before a the visitors scored straight from the restart after a long ball forward caught the wind and sailed over the Bees keeper to make it 2-2.
The first half scoring was not done there though as Maisie Macdonald's tenacity allowed her to slot home for 3-2 going into the break.
After the break Holly Perryment made it 4-2 finishing well from the edge of the area. as the Bees looked in control of the tie.
However, Ilminster set up a nervy finish after finding the net for a third time but in the end the Bees held on as their title charge stays strong.
