SHERBORNE TOWN RESERVES 1

Bridport Reserves had to settle for their third home draw of the season when the welcomed Sherborne Town Reserves to St Mary's last Saturday.

The Bees had to come from a goal behind to salvage a point in the Dorset premier League after Elliott Man opened the scoring for the Zebras in the opening ten minutes.

However, despite trailing at the break, the Bees were dominant in the second half and George Geraghty grabbed a well deserved equaliser for the Bridport side.

There were chances to win the game from either side but both teams left St Mary;s with a point.

Murray Legg's side were were slow to start and were punished early on in the 8th minute.

After a failure to clear their own lines, an opportunity eventually presented itself to Man who cooly sent the Bees keeper and defenders the wrong way before slotting home.

The Zebras, who were playing some nice, fast paced passing moves, created several crossing opportunities, but were unable to convert their chances.

The Bees eventually got a foothold in the game around the half hour mark and started to carve out chances of their own.

Josh Baker sent a header over the bar before both Noah House and Harry Boulton forced the visiting keeper into good saves low down.

Shortly before half time, the Bees forced four corners, but the Zebras managed to close out the half with the lead.

The second half was a more one sided affair with the Bees taking control of the game, creating a number of opportunities.

George Wyrill headed over the bar before Boulton forced another fine save from the opposition keeper.

In the 70th minute, the impressive George Geraghty brought down a precise ball from Wyrill before firing home from the edge of the box - to give the Bees a well deserved equaliser.

Bridport were now searching for the winner , and a well worked move down the right was pulled back by Callum Arnold to Baker who was only thwarted by another fine stop, with Noah House also denied with the follow up.

The Bees didn’t have it all their own way though, and a fine 25 yard free kick from the Zebras went out of play via the crossbar.

There was still time for Bees skipper Jake Mansley to head over from close range before one final goalmouth scramble which Sherborne managed to clear.

The draw leaves Bridport 13th in the league table with seven points from 12 games. Next up they travel to Hamworthy Recreation Reserves in Poole.
