BRIDPORT 7

MIDDLEZOY ROVERS 1

Bridport thumped Middlezoy Rovers by a six goal margin - the club's biggest win since 2018.

The Bees were reduced to ten men after half an hour and thoughts of a victory looked slim, having fallen a goal behind in the opening ten minutes, as Dan Lismore silenced St Mary's Field.

Chris Herbst men rallied and came back strongly scoring seven goals from six different goal scorers in what was a comfortable win for the Bees in the end.

Lismore had opened the scoring against the run of play in the ninth minute, however, it would not get any better for the away side.

Ryan Gall equalised for Bridport after a goal mouth scramble in the 16th minute before Fred Parsons put the home side ahead three minutes later.

Solomon Ayunga then smashed a George Calverley cross home from close range to make it 3-1.

With the Bees comfortably in control of the game, they were dealt a blow when Kieran Daniels was sent for an early bath in the 33rd minute after the referee deemed him the last man.

Despite being a player down, the Bees did not hold back and found themselves 5-1 up at the break when Riley Weedon hit one from the edge of the area before Will Gape scored in added time with a diving header.

After the break, Rovers had a rare glimpse at the Bees goal as Oscar Albano watched his free kick come crashing off the cross bar in the 70th minute.

Substitute James Cox would complete the Bees rout with two goals in the final ten minutes.

The first, a well taken shot from the edge of the box after a free flowing move in the 82nd minute, before doubling his tally and adding Bridport's seventh in injury time.

The win lifts Bridport up to sixth in the South West Peninsula League, but the club still have a lot of work to do to close the gap between the teams in the play off spots.
