Bridport Ladies tasted defeat for the first time this season after losing 4-3 away to Burnham United.
Bridport struggled to get into their usual rhythm and Burnham struck early, aided by the windy conditions, which put Bridport on the back foot from the start.
The wind and difficult pitch made it hard for the visitors to settle, especially with four first-team players unavailable.
Despite the absences, those stepping up worked hard and made important contributions, but adapting to a different formation proved difficult.
The lack of cohesion saw Bridport lose focus, allowing Burnham to double their lead before halftime.
However, with memories of last season's 2-2 comeback, Bridport knew they were capable of turning things around.
In the second half, Burnham came out strong and scored two quick goals, leaving Bridport with a mountain to climb from the 50th minute.
Nonetheless, Bridport began to improve and created numerous chances.
Maisie Macdonald was a standout, netting two brilliant long-range goals and Sophie Northover also got on the scoresheet.
Two additional goals were controversially ruled out for offside, adding to the team's frustration and despite their late push, Burnham saw home the win and took all three points
