CHEDDAR LADIES 0
BRIDPORT LADIES 3
Bridport FC Ladies beat table-toppers Cheddar Ladies in a crucial away game last Sunday.
Cheddar had netted 20 goals in their last two matches, but despite Cheddar's attacking reputation, Bridport kept a clean sheet and ran out comfortable winners.
The first half saw Bridport come out firing, with Aleeshea Rowland’s blistering pace causing all sorts of problems for the Cheddar defense.
Early on, Cait Corbett delivered a perfect ball over the top, allowing Rowland to sprint through and finish clinically.
Clare Darby then provided two assists, further unsettling the opposition, and Bridport took control of the match.
Despite Cheddar's quick strikers, Bridport's high line and organized formation kept them at bay, limiting their chances and frustrating their attack.
In the second half, the game was largely played in midfield, with neither side creating many clear opportunities.
Bridport remained solid and disciplined, as Cheddar were reduced to 10 players after receiving a sin-bin for dissent.
Despite not capitalizing on the numerical advantage, Bridport maintained their clean sheet and saw the game out comfortably.
The win moves Bridport three points clear at the top of the Somerset County Women's League Division Two.
Next up is Street FC who visit St Mary's on Sunday, September 22.
