It is getting close at the top of the Bridport Indoor Bowls Morning league with several teams still in the hunt for top spot after the latest round of matches.

The league saw a change at the top of the table this week in what is becoming a close race for the title this year.

Iris Ashton, Phil Benton and  Phil Tattershall's Balloons soared back to the top after demolishing The Devils 19-2.

However, Top Bananas, Tigerwoods and Lotties Lot all remain in contention and are all just two points behind with a game in hand.

A 5-2-7 burst gave Ann Turtell, Gordon Lee and Paul Hallett's Bananas a 21-4 win over Sylvia's All Stars, whilst  two late four counts saw Chris McBain, Kim Thomas and Roy Koerner's Lotties Lot beat Five Tops 15-10.  

Elsewhere Penny Pither, Mike Cash and John Corney's Bandits beat the Kestrels 12-8, Jackie Godfrey, Sandie Peters and David Ramsden's Strollers beat the Harriers 12-10 and Paul Ridgeway and Rose and Chris Everest's More Fruits beat the Chancers 16-12.

In the Evening League, Brian Earl, Brian Sufflng and Phil Hedges' second placed Pirates beat the top spot Peanuts 13-10.  

Philip Pyfinch, Koerner and David Heiden's More Greens are third after a 12-8 win over Spurs.  

Other results in the league this week saw Mel Hargett, Elaine Marshall and Nick Edwards' Wrong Bias come out on top against Blythe Spirits 16-6, Peter Spencer-Farr, Jenny Harding and Hallett's 4 Peas in a Pod beat the Optimists 13-10 and Denise Rhodes, Wotherspoon and Joe Lofthouse's Devils were victorious over Bubbles 15-10.

In the County Summer League The Royals picked up four of the six points available home to The Dorset Resort (Bere Regis).

Barry Mapson, John Burwood and Harding lost a last end shoot out with Brian Baker, Andy Marsh and Bob Hill securing a comfortable win for the points.
