BRIDPORT RESERVES 1
BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC 1
Bridport Reserves were denied victory through a last gasp equaliser at St Mary's on Saturday.
It was a tight affair in the Dorset Premier League between the Bees and Bournemouth Electric but eventually the spoils were shared after over 100 minutes of play.
Josh Baker put the Bees in front from the spot in the second half but the home side were denied three points when the visitors poked home a loose ball in the box in the 11th minute of added time.
The first half lacked any quality, with both teams only creating half-chances.
Baker’s left-footed shot from outside the area was comfortably caught by the visitors' keeper.
Strong defending from the Bees denied the visitors any clear chances, with the one shot on target neatly saved down to his right by Archie Kershaw.
The second half followed a similar pattern.
On the hour mark, Brad Rowe broke clear of the defense, holding off two defenders until he was eventually brought down in the area.
Baker coolly converted the penalty to give the Bees the lead.
Bournemouth Electric went in search of the equalizer but were again met by the stubborn and disciplined Bees defense.
A couple of shots from distance narrowly missed the target, and Kershaw got down well to deny Electrics' winger one-on-one.
The Bees, who had four injuries on the day, were hanging on and defending resolutely until the 101st minute of the game.
The visitors pushed everyone forward for a corner, and a knockdown was eventually turned in by the opposition keeper.
