Milborne St Andrew 75 a.o. lost to Symene 2nds 169/7 by 94 runs

Symene 2nds secured at least a third place finish in Division Six with this comfortable victory over Milborne.

Home skipper Ollie James chose to field first and soon bagged the scalps of veteran opening duo Colin Lloyd and Phil Hawkins.

Lloyd’s watchful innings shepherded in-form No.3 Lucas Richards to 16 before he too fell, bowled by James, whose 3-19 was the pick of the Milborne bowling.

Symene were in some trouble at 66/5 after 20 overs but then turned things around with a near run-a-ball captain’s innings of 63 from David Hart.

All-rounder Oran Maudsley’s 30 was the perfect foil at the other end and the two added 84 runs for the 6th wicket to set a challenging 169 total.

In reply Symene bowler Lucas Richards was nearly unplayable in the conditions as he hammered home Symene’s half-time advantage, immediately bagging the top three Milborne batters cheaply on his way to an outstanding 3/10 analysis.

Jade Wilkinson chipped in with the wicket of Greg Egan for three in an economical 1/16 spell but it was Maudsley’s return of four wickets for seven runs that hurried the end as Milborne collapsed, losing their last five wickets for 15 runs with 15 overs remaining.
