Bridport continued their poor start to the season with another defeat in the Walter C Parsons Peninsula League.

The Bees were defeated 2-0 away to Torrington in a game Bees boss Chris Herbst said his team 'didn't deserve anything' from.

It's been a frustrating start to the league campaign for Herbst's side who started the game brightly but were unable to put away the chances they had created.

Sol Ayunga was unlucky having hit the crossbar and watched another chance saved by the home side's keeper in the opening half hour.

However, a lack of communication at the back allowed for a looped ball into the box to fall to Luke Kerswell who poked home past Jordan Scadding from five yards.

The second half was more of the same for the Bees who could just not find the back of the net.

Ayunga was at the heart of the action with the striker seeing one of his efforts come crashing off the bar, again, whilst another strike was disallowed for a marginal offside.

Torrington were then awarded a penalty with under fifteen minutes to go which was duly tucked away into the top corner by Jed Harper-Penman as the home side sealed all three points.

Speaking to The News after the game, Herbst said: "We didn't start too bad, but we didn't create much in the first half and it was a little back and forth with no real chances but then Solly hit the bar and had another effort parried away.

"In the second half Solly scored but it was called offside and then hit the crossbar again.

"I just thought it's not going to happen and we should just come home at this point.

"I was disappointed with this game as we had fought and battled in our other two games so far - but Torrington wanted it more.

"I'll back my side against any side in this league but if you don't want it, it won't happen.

"The fans that travelled have been let down and we have to get better."

Next up for Bridport is a trip away to Elburton Villa, in Plymouth, on Saturday, August 17.
