Symene 2nds 211/5 (18 pts) beat Sturminster & Hinton 210/7 (7 pts) by 5 wickets

David Hart’s young charges produced yet another memorable victory, and cemented third place in the league, in a season where nearly every game has been marked by a close result or memorable individual performance.

Sturminster batted first and got away to a good start until Dean Porter was the first to depart, caught and bowled by Jake Jobson for 15.

Joe Willey was next to go for 19, mesmerised by Graham Bartlett’s flight.

Jack Bartlett picked up the wicket of Stockley to leave Sturminster in trouble on 69/5 at halfway, with the hosts clearly eyeing an early finish.

That was as good as it got in the field for Symene as Thomson Joseph’s 77 n.o. and Austin Andrews 53, eventually lbw to Jade Wilkinson, racked up an unbroken 140 run partnership to boost the total to an improbable 210.

After tea Symene were immediately rocked as openers David Hart and Orran Maudsley were both dismissed without scoring but then Lucas Richards made a superb 67 not out and Sam Hart 55, both registering their maiden 50’s for the club in an invaluable fifth wicket partnership.

Lloyd Cleal’s 28 not out alongside Richards saw the hosts canter home in the 33rd over to secure a particularly memorable victory.
