Bridport assistant manager Mark Lock has expressed his 'disappointment' over the teams opening day defeat.

The Bees got their Walter C Parsons Peninsula League campaign underway yesterday (August 3) in a 0-2 defeat to Teignmouth at St Mary's Field.

Goals from Piers MacLauchlan and Hayden Rowe either side of half-time proved the deciding factor.

After the game, Bees assitant manager Lock said: "We didn't get in their faces enough to stop the goal, which was disappointing.

"However, when we look at our first-half performance, we had five or six good chances compared to their one or two.

"We kept the ball well and moved it around effectively. Our halftime talk focused on continuing to keep the ball and playing in the right areas."

The Bees may have tasted defeat on Saturday, however, Lock was keen to point out the positives from the team's performance.

He added: "We tried hard to get back into the game and made three or four substitutions to freshen things up.

"We created another four or five chances but just couldn't find the back of the net.

"While the result wasn't what we wanted, there were positives to take from our performance. We're committed to learning from this game and coming back stronger."
