Bridport boss Chris Herbst says pre-season has been the 'most enjoyable' he has ever experienced.

The Bees manager has been pleased with how preparations for the upcoming South West Peninsula League season are going and is looking to best last season performance.

A series a strong wins and just one defeat in pre-season, along with the addition of David Richardson and his fitness coaching experience, has put the Bees in a good place to push forward.

Speaking to the Bridport News, he said: "It's been really good to be fair.

"Adding David Richardson and the Premier league and Football League experience he has brought in fitness wise is good.

"There have been so many positives, the fitness is good and now we can really get into the football side.

"Basically now we are trying to shape up our strongest eleven and some players have still got something to prove.

He added: It's been one of the most enjoyable pre-season's I have had as a manager and a player."

Herbst has also been impressed with the club's new summer signings and believes that the team should be pushing to make at least one cup final this season.

He said: "Noah House, Stef Stavrianos and Dan Sheehy have been really impressive and I am trying to get one more over the line.

"We need to better last season as we dropped off at the last point and our season died out.

"We had two semi-finals and we finished fifth and that has to be higher and we need to get to a final."

The Bees final pre-season game is at home against Westland Sports on Saturday, July 27.

The league campaign begins with the visit of Teignmouth AFC on Saturday, August 3 at St Mary's Field at 3pm.
