BRIDPORT have secured the signature of forward Dan Sheehy from Dorset Premier League side Dorchester Sports.

Sheehy, who joined Sports after impressing at neighbours Puddletown, netted 14 times in 29 games for the county town side in 2023/24.

His efforts alerted Bridport and Sheehy has sufficiently caught the eye in training and as a trialist to earn a place in Bridport’s squad for the new campaign.

Of his latest recruit, who steps up one tier in standard, Bridport boss Chris Herbst said: “That’s really good news. He was really keen to come, so it was a no-brainer.

“He’s scored 14 goals for Dorch Sports last year, so he’s a really good signing.

“From what I’ve seen of him against Beer, when we actually got him the ball he’s very dangerous.

“He’s quick on the turn and very direct. He always has his head up when he runs with the ball, which is what you want from your wingers.”

Herbst is also close to signing another trialist, believed to be on his way from Axminster Town.

He said: “He can’t play Friday due to work but I think I might get him over the line.”

Bridport visit Chard Town tomorrow (7.30pm).
