BRIDPORT boss Chris Herbst proclaimed the Bees’ 4-0 win over Beer Albion came with “loads of positives”.

The performance was a clear step up on Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Portland United, although it took Bridport until the 29th minute to open the scoring.

Kieren Daniels’ pinpoint free-kick allowed Luke King to nod into the far corner before Stef Stavrianos unleashed a scorcher from 35 yards for 2-0.

Stavrianos tapped home a third in the 48th minute and Fred Parsons rounded off the display with a crisp strike from outside the box for 4-0.

Speaking post-match, Herbst said: “First half we weren’t doing what we wanted. We had spells of pressing and keeping the ball better but then we would drift in and out of it.

“Second half, we came out and implemented everything we wanted. We could’ve scored more but it’s not really about goals, it’s about what we’re doing on the pitch.

“We created chances and they couldn’t really get near us second half, so it was pleasing.

“George Wyrill came in from the reserves and looked good, that’s a massive plus.

“The trialists did look really good, so hopefully we can get them involved in the next games.

“Stef looked quality and took two goals really well. There’s loads of positives.

“Obviously getting Solly (Ayunga), Riley (Weedon) and Jake (Childs) minutes as well, so it’s all plusses.”

Ayunga caught the eye up front with his sheer speed alone causing Beer no end of problems.

“He’s brilliant,” Herbst said. “It’s just having that presence up there. His press and speed are unbelievable. It helps us get up the field. It’s a big bonus.”

On Stavrianos, who scored twice on the night, Herbst added: “It was an absolute screamer, the one time we don’t have Veo!

“As the game went on he was getting better and better, he’s a really good signing and can play anywhere across the front three.

“It puts pressure on the other lads and it’s good to add that quality.”

Bridport are next in action at home to Dorchester Sports on Wednesday before visiting Chard two days later.
