BRIDPORT 4

BEER ALBION 0

BRIDPORT cruised to a 4-0 victory over Beer Albion in the second pre-season friendly of the summer.

Bridport started on the front foot with Sol Ayunga’s pace causing Beer all sorts of problems.

The striker fashioned Bridport’s first chance in the fourth minute, saved by the legs of keeper Leo Gribble, before Kieren Daniels hacked the rebound wide.

Ayunga turned on the afterburners to sprint clear moments later, only to go down in the box without reward, leaving boss Chris Herbst enraged.

Ayunga had Beer’s defence on toast at this stage and cut inside before blazing over in the 11th minute.

After taking a while to settle, Beer fought back and were denied a penalty of their own when Taylor Rooke went down.

Beer’s first shots at goal came in the 25th minute as the industrious Will Richards poked at Jordon Scadding before slamming the rebound into the side netting.

But Bridport would lead in the 29th minute when their former striker Tony Pinder tripped George Calverley and Daniels picked out Luke King to head home the free-kick.

Two minutes later, Bridport doubled their lead with a trademark scorcher from new signing Stef Stavrianos.

Winning possession in midfield, Stavrianos instinctively fired home from 35 yards, giving Gribble no chance.

Beer should immediately have made it 2-1 when Scadding’s mistake allowed Jayden Rooke a shot at the unguarded net only for the striker’s chip to sail over.

To their credit, Beer ended the half strongly as Aaron Daniels cut in from the left and fired at Scadding.

Bridport needed only three minutes of the second half to make it 3-0 as Ayunga’s pace once more unlocked the door and he laid the ball on a plate for Stavrianos to find the empty net with Gribble committed.

Beer were spirited and might have scored a consolation as Will Richards volleyed over on the stretch and Aaron Daniels scooped over.

Bridport searched for a fourth as sub Riley Weedon fired low at Gribble from 20 yards.

Late on, another mistake from Scadding as he advanced to claim without touching the ball presented Finley Rooke with a chance only for Bridport to make the block.

And Bees sub Fred Parsons put the cherry on top of a decent display from Bridport as his long-range strike fizzed into the left corner.
