GOLFERS came together in jester hats and sailors' uniforms to celebrate a special anniversary match which raised a substantial sum for charity 'Hopeful Hampers'.
Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club celebrated 55 years of the Jokers matches. It all started in 1969 when a Jack White's Jokers team challenged the then Steward's team known as Teddy Rimer's Tearaways.
Over the years the Jokers have challenged other Steward's teams known as the Terriers, Marauders, Renegades, Army, Infantry and the Regiment, always raising funds for good causes.
Each team of 20 players complete with jester apparel and naval regalia, competed for a prestigious trophy with John's Jokers coming out on top against Sally's Sailors 7-3.

The special match ended with an evening barbecue when the results were announced and the presentations made. The captains' charity received over £200 from a raffle and auction held during the evening.
John White, captain of the Jokers team, said he was proud to carry on the fun and tradition of this event created by his father in 1969 and hopes to continue these matches in the coming years.
