BEAMINSTER RES 8

LONGFLEET 0

BEAMINSTER Reserves made it two Dorset League Division Five victories on the bounce with an emphatic 8-0 thrashing of Longfleet.

Iain Hansford-Harvey’s men now sit seventh in the table on 18 points with as many as five games in hand on some of the teams above them.

Beaminster showed their attacking intent from the get-go, with plenty of early chances being created down Henry Hansford-Harvey’s right side, linking up with Fin Dolan and Frank Symonds.

However, it was Rich Runyard, continuing his comeback from a serious injury, who opened the scoring, getting on the end of a Dolan corner to head home from half a yard out.

Dolan continued to threaten and added a second with a well-taken finish just inside the area.

The third came when a Longfleet defender punched a Callum Flawn strike into his own net for a comedic own goal.

Longfleet had two players sent to the sin bin in the second half, one of them their goalkeeper, effectively ending the contest.

The Rainbows duly capitalised, with five unanswered goals coming from substitutes Matt Tolman, Merry Allen and a hat-trick for Freddie Pitt-Pladdy.

Allen’s half-volley from the edge of the area was arguably the pick of the day.

The reserves face eighth-placed Tisbury United Reserves away on Saturday, with the Wiltshire side only two points behind the Memorial Ground side, complete with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, following a week off, Beaminster's first team return to action at home to Wareham Rangers in Dorset League Division One (2pm).
