BRIDPORT have offered their “heartfelt apologies” after some supporters were admitted up to 30 minutes late for their Boxing Day fixture.

Fans of both the Bees and Axminster Town were affected, meaning some spectators only witnessed an hour of the 0-0 draw at St Mary’s Field.

An attendance of 510 was recorded, a 92 per cent increase on Bridport’s previous highest this season of 265 against Crediton United in September.

The developments caused complaints on social media, with one fan posting: "Have to say, I am perplexed that they didn't open the gates and have another couple of people letting supporters in."

In a club statement, chairman Adrian Scadding encouraged fans to submit ideas for improving entry for supporters.

He said: “I hope this message finds you well and I extend my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support at our recent Boxing Day match.

“We were delighted to witness an unprecedented turnout, which surpassed even our highest season attendance by almost double.

“However, we are acutely aware that the unexpectedly large crowd led to significant queuing at the entrance, causing inconvenience for many of you.

“Please accept our heartfelt apologies for any frustration or delay you may have experienced while trying to access the ground.

“We genuinely appreciate your commitment and dedication to Bridport Football Club, and we understand that the queueing situation fell short of your expectations.

“Our team was taken by surprise when the gate numbers doubled in such a short span of time, and we acknowledge the need for improvement in managing such scenarios.

“Rest assured, the club is conducting a thorough review of the situation to identify areas for enhancement in our matchday operations.

“We are committed to ensuring that your matchday experience is enjoyable and seamless, and we will take proactive measures to prevent a recurrence of queueing issues in the future.

“Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we encourage you to share any further insights or suggestions for improvement. Please email us any suggestions.

“Bridport Football Club is dedicated to providing a first-class experience for our supporters and visitors we thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
