BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS RES 3

BEAMINSTER 2

BEAMINSTER counted themselves unlucky after succumbing to a 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth Sports Reserves in Dorset League Division One.

A powerful combination for poor finishing and poor defending saw Beaminster go into half-time at 3-1 down.

Daniel Hayward, Tyler Stockley and Samuel Watt were Sports’ scorers, while the Rainbows responded through Isaac House, who bagged a trademark long-range goal.

Paul Hill hit the crossbar while Robin Jones, Jake Rowland, Charlie Pomeroy and James Hill all passed up chances.

However, the visitors finally found their shooting boots midway through the second half as Jacob Parsons pounced on a parry 65 minutes in.

Parsons was denied by a remarkable save from the home keeper, before Isaac House twice went close from distance.

Ryan Sweetman at full stretch missed at the back post and Jones missed two one-on-ones as Beaminster had to settle for a frustrating defeat.

Beaminster boss Murray Legg told the Rainbows’ media team: “We were only able to field a squad of 13, including myself, but it was probably one of our best displays this season.

“We were unfortunate to come up against an inspired keeper. If we were being critical we only lacked some composed finishing. I can’t fault the effort or mentality during the game.

“We penetrated their defence line on a number of occasions with Jake, Isaac and Robin causing problems whenever they were on the ball.”
