DRIMPTON 4
MISTERTON RES 1
DRIMPTON beat Misterton Reserves 4-1 in their first Perry Street & District League Division One game in nearly two months.
Despite heavy overnight rainfall, The Greens were given the go-ahead on a heavy Drimpton Rec pitch which was passed playable earlier in the morning.
Drimpton’s passing game did not take long to come back with some good interplay and movement and debutant Max Dicker should have scored when played through on goal.
Drimpton goalkeeper Oliver Wheatley then launched a long goal-kick downfield which bounced over the Misterton’s goalkeeper and hit the bar before going out of play.

Misterton then worked a good chance of their own only for their striker to drag his shot wide, while the visiting keeper made some good saves in the first half to keep the scores blank.
However, Drimpton took a deserved lead when centre-half Tom Rutland tried his luck from 35 yards with the ball ending up in the net.
Drimpton then gave themselves a two-goal cushion into half-time when a lovely ball from Adam Chant was turned home by striker Josh Cousins.
The second half started with Drimpton again testing the Misterton goalie, who made two more smart saves from Dicker in the space of three minutes.
Drimpton added to their tally after the keeper made another good block from Dicker’s shot but this time Chant was there to turn the rebound in.
Misterton then made it 3-1 after some slack play by the home defence.
Drimpton then survived being pegged back to 3-2 when a Misterton set-piece hit the crossbar.
Any potential Drimpton blushes were spared, though, when Cousins scored after being played through by the returning Frank Symonds.
Commenting on social media, Greens’ manager Andy Loudon said: "(It) was so good to be able to get out there playing again.
“I thought we would (have) been a little rusty but this wasn't the case.
“We played some good football and a combination of poor finishing and some great saves from the Misterton goalie kept the scoreline down.
“We have some new faces and they bedded in immediately and look like great additions for the club.”
