DRIMPTON 4
CHARMOUTH 1
DRIMPTON picked up a hard-earned 4-1 win against fellow promoted side Charmouth in their Perry Street & District League Division One clash, writes Andy Loudon.
It was the visitors who started the stronger, their long balls were catching the home defence out and they created a few good chances which they spurned.
Drimpton took the lead against the run of play when Josh Cousins intercepted a poor back pass to round the keeper and give Drimpton the lead.

This was not to last long as Charmouth did manage to get themselves level after good work down the right and a David Bridges shot across the goal nestled just inside the far post.
Charmouth were then awarded a penalty for a trip from behind awarded a penalty but the Robins' skipper smashed the kick against the post.
Drimpton came out at the start of the second half re-energised and took the game to Charmouth. The home side showed more energy and this paid off when they were awarded a penalty, Josh Cousins stepped up and confidently tucked home the resulting kick.
This seemed to really unsettle the visitors and Drimpton made the game save when a fantastic pass by Tyler Perrett was pinpointed to Cousins who completed his hat-trick with a well-taken finish.
Drimpton right-back Przemek Szmigielski spotted a small gap at the near post and smashed an unstoppable drive from 35 yards into the net to spark celebrations for the home side.
Greens' manager Andy Loudon said: "This was a very pleasing win against a good side in Charmouth. They probably edged the first 45 minutes and obviously their penalty miss was the turning point.
"We re grouped at half-time, made a change and I thought we bossed the second half. We have a younger side this season and we are delighted with how they are progressing."
Drimpton are next in action at home to Forton Rangers Reserves on Saturday (2.30pm).
