BRIDPORT players have the opportunity to put themselves “in the shop window” for next season, according to caretaker boss Shaun Annetts.

Annetts’ comments were made in relation to future boss Edgar Marcu, who will continue to shadow the former Bridport Reserves manager for the rest of the campaign.

But the Bees, who blooded four new signings in the 7-0 loss at Street on Saturday, will be given the chance to play for their place in the 2022/23 season.

Annetts said: “Edgar was with me, so the new first-team manager was there.

“You would expect they would want to perform not just for themselves but for me, for the club and certainly put themselves in the shop window for next year.”

He added: “But there were some below-par performances all over the field. Street did play well and certainly didn’t look like a bottom-three side.

“They were clinical when they needed to be and were much, much better than us.”
